Well .. I started watching these little computers in March.  Three months later, these are really HOT with an overwhelming number of choices!!
See my newest list on the right side of this page ..and I'll try to CHOOSE ONE ..aargh!
(After all that research I find Dell is coming out with a tiny one!-Candy Apple Red!)

How I shop for computers:
1. Chip type : Power!
2. Memory: 2Gig Minimum
3. Size
4. Generally I do not pay attention to brand too much and the newer brands are competing well in all ways so far.

I know I pay more for small.
And if I buy the cheapest machine I will get "invisible" low end parts such as a wireless adapter that has maximum snail speed, or a video card that can't run the latest video technology without hesitation. So once I get the chip right: core 2 duo or quad equivalents, then I watch the sales and markdowns to try to get something for nothing.  I consider that fun! 

The Mac Air got you drooling?  Me too!
Weighs about 3 lbs with a 13.3 screen. And as thin as you could dream of being.But even Apple lovers say the price is too high ($1,800 or $3,000+) and if you must have it, wait until the next model comes out.

*Toshiba offers a 13.3 screen on their Satellite U305-S2804 for $799.  But it weighs 4.5 lbs.
*Dell offers one 13.3 screen $999. The XPS M1330.  Their lowest end laptops start around $399 but I don't recommend those. (See my price strategy to the left)* Averatec 3700 Series is a 12" screen weighing 4.5 lbs that I would study but at first glance looks terrific.
