RESIZING PHOTOS FOR THE WEB

I have been using Front Page since 2001.  This year I learned to use Dreamweaver and Fireworks which together let you design a more graphic site while automatically slicing up large images to make fast loading web sites.  Both, as  html editors,  "write code" beneath my layout which I can view in the HTML view.  I try to know as little as possible about any code but it is a simple one so when necessary I can edit it.

Front Page allows me to work right on the host server so there's no real publishing involved beyond saving the page and making sure the hyperlinks work and the pages are properly named.  I keep my images one folder, and files I offer for download in another.  I have a folder for each main page of my site in which I keep their sub pages.  I work with the folder list showing on the left which is as familiar to me as Windows Explorer on my hard drive.

I use a Front Page theme which is good because I don't have to set colors on each page for background, links or borders.  It's annoying if I want to use different colors on a single page but I do that by creating a table and then formatting within that table.

Tables are what make layouts possible on a page.  Without them you don't have the ability to postion graphics and text except within a table cell.

Internet Explorer

All cell's are draggable for size, or select cell. Also in table menu select cell (or table) properties. Uncheck specified height & width. Return to table and drag cell dividers again.

PUBLISH PAGES
As long as you have no index created on your Front Page Site, you can create pages on your host server and they will not show up until you link to them.

When a page is ready to publish, simply create a link to it from an existing page.

If you are replacing an exisiting page, rename the old page to old i.e. company.html becomes company-old.html.
When Front Page offers to repair links to the new name say NO.
Then rename your new page to be the same as the old WAS. i.e. company.html.
