2006 SUMMER WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

March and April Workshops at ACT Computers
Getting pictures from camera card to your computer:

Insert card & window comes up offering options:
Choose "Copy pictures using the windows camera wizard"
Just click next 2x .. (NOTE: click in box to delete pictures from card ..)
Type name for new folder & next ..
windows moves the pictures from your card into a folder in My Pictures.

I recommend keeping ALL of your pictures in My Pictures and not on the card.  You can improve your shots on the computer and then copy them back to the card to take for printing if you like. I confess I like the quality I get especially on borderless 4x6 photos at CVS than fussing with my own printers.

The Wizard above is great but as you get more confident, you can work from the camera card just as though it's a folder on your computer.  To do that, you:

Insert card & window comes up offering options (if not you can find the card through "My Computer")
Click last option" Open folder to view files.
Now you are "looking at" the card it self.
  Double click the "DCIM" folder
In that is another folder, double click to open that.
Now you have all of your pictures in the window ..
From there you can select all (CTRL-A) on the keyboard or Edit menu and "Select All"
Or you can hold down your control key and randomly select pictures (click quickly or it makes copies)
Or you can click one, hold down the shift key and click the last in a row (consecutive select)
THEN use your task menus on the left .. copy or move pictures ..
Again as above, click "Make a new folder" and type the name of it and be sure it's highlighted before you click move
OR click on existing folder and click move to add the pictures to it.

AGAIN: I recommend keeping the card clean ..
moving ALL of the pictures of each event into it's own folder and dealing with it there.
Otherwise it can get too complicated having duplicates or being unsure which pictures are where ..
a simple system allows you to get on with the fun part of picture projects and editing!
