Blah Blah Blah  ......

Back to my home page

A web site has to be interesting.  Not just in what it says, but how it looks.  Verbosity has always been my weakness.  But "Blahblahblah" was  going to be my ramble-on-as-long-as-I-like column.  Today is my introduction (June 10th, 2001).  I'll date the essays and keep an archive.  Who knows maybe it will be  a book some day.

A "Column"

By Faith Mitchell

The title of this column signifies that I can talk about anything I want here and it may or may not have anything to do with computers!  Of course if you are reading this you are probably a friend.  Who else would suffer through it?

I graduated High School in NJ in 1963.  For the last two years of it I and my friends wore black.  We envied the "ex-patriots", the most romantic of the disillusioned intellectuals, as we saw ourselves.  Later, after the hippie era faded from memory, I realized we had thought we were beatniks.  Little did I know at the time that the "Beat Generation" had begun in 1948 and was thought of as a 50's phenomenom.  So what were we doing?

I helped a friend celebrate his 59th birthday recently.  The party theme was "Beatnik".  So I went on the net of course and did a little research.  Could it really have been all over by the time my friends and I were studying James Joyce in our Advanced English classes?
